Charges framed against Sohel Chowdhury murder accused Ashish

Narcotics case

A Dhaka tribunal today framed charges against Ashish Roy Chowdhury in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

He is also an accused in the actor Sohel Chowdhury murder case.

Ashish Roy alias Bottle Chowdhury, now in jail custody, pleaded not guilty and demanded justice after Judge Kudrot-e-Elahi of Special Tribunal-13 of Dhaka read out the charges to him.

The judge fixed July 17 for starting trial of the case.

Earlier on July 25 last year, Shamim Hossain, a sub-inspector of Gulshan Police Station and also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka.

Rapid Action Battalion on April 5 the same year arrested Ashish from his Gulshan home in Dhaka. They also seized 17 bottles of foreign alcohol from his residence.

Following the seizure, Jahangir Alam, deputy assistant director of Rab-10, filed the case with Gulshan Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.

On December 18, 1998, Sohel Chowdhury was shot dead by miscreants at Trumps Club in Abedin Tower, in Dhaka's Banani area.
